Members of the PT Faculty Recognized for their Graduate Work

Last July 16, 2009, 3 members of the College of Physical Therapy were awarded by the Science Education Institute of the Department of Science and Technology in Dusit Thani, Manila.

The Science Education Institute (SEI) is in charge of developing a critical mass of highly trained science and technology manpower by administering scholarships, awards and research grants for the promotion, development and improvement of science and technology education and training through the Accelerated Science and Technology Human Resource Development Program (ASTHRDP).

Dr. Raquel Cabazor, present Dean of the College, with Ms. Archelle Callejo and Ms. Fria Santos, both members of the faculty were 3 of the 30 recipients of the award, Academic Excellence in Science. The award is given to DOST merit scholars with exemplary performance. Out of 400 applicants all over the country, only 200 qualified and only 30 were recipients of the Award for Academic Excellence at the conclusion of the program.

Former Senator Edgardo Angara, a staunch supporter of higher education was the guest speaker at the event. Also present at the awarding ceremony were DOST Secretary Hon. Estrella Alabastro, and DOST Undersecretary for Science and Technology Fortunato Dela Peña.
